Sparky or Abraham

Genesis 18:10-14
Then the LORD said, "I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife will have a son."

Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, which was behind him. 11 Abraham and Sarah were already very *old, and Sarah was past the age of childbearing. 12 So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, "After I am worn out and my lord is old, will I now have this pleasure?"

13 Then the LORD said to Abraham, "Why did Sarah laugh and say, 'Will I really have a child, now that I am old?' 14 Is anything too hard for the LORD? I will return to you at the appointed time next year and Sarah will have a son."

*My doctor said she didn't normally consider 25 to be old... but I am special ;o) Now, we all pray that this verse applies to Sarah and Sparky. Perhaps I should start referring to him on here as Abraham...hmm

Reason for Absence

In addition to just being boring person in general, I have been spending most of my available blogging time reading the blogs of others while ignoring my own. Check out these wonderful blogs that I have been stalking:
This one has sucked up a majority of my time, but now that I have read it in its entirety, it shouldn't take much time to keep up with :)

This is her front door. Doesn't it look like a Christmas movie?:

And then her entry, right when you walk in the door, and look up a little:

From the top of the stairs looking down:

This is so wonderful, she almost makes me want to buy a split level home myself, just so I can copy her entry!

Once you get up the stairs you land in her living room. This is the stencil that her husband painted on the wall for her:

Here is the proof of his handiwork:

And here is the finished result with furniture:

If you turn right around you will see the lovely dining area:

What? You are wanting a better look at the blank and white thing behind the table? Ok:

She took a famous (?) etching, had it enlarged on canvas with adhesive on the back. Mark and I have decided to copy her when we have a house, but we are going to use one of the invention sketches from Leonardo da Vinci's notebook.

Check out her son's closet doors:

Adorable!! She wanted the lion walking on the ground, but her husband hung it in the middle of the door. To make the lion grounded, she added a chalk board hill under his feet. Perfect!

I am ready to move in!

I Hate Stupid People- Kim's Addition

While talking to my sister I realized that I have way more posts along this line. In fact, I may need to begin I Hate Stupid People Thursday (IHSPT). Of course, I will then need to change the order of the acronym to spell something clever, like HATE. I will have to think about that one. If you have any suggestions for a witty title/acronym let me know!

Anywho... I was talking to my sister on the phone (her name is Kim, hence the title) and I heard an obnoxious beeping siren. Upon further inquiry I learned that apparently my sister sets off the alarm upon entering and leaving any establishment with a sensor thinggy. Good grief. She has been told that it was her phone. She believes, however, that it is her purse, since it only goes off when she is carrying a specific hand bag (one that happens to have never had a sensor tag on it to begin with so it isn't very probable as the cause, but we won't go there).
She entered the store, gathered her merchandise, and checked out. While checking out she reminded the cashier that she set the alarm off while entering the store, so when she left it would most likely go off again. The lady was dumbfounded. Kim went on to explain that she has been told it was her phone causing the alarms to go off.
The lady asked to see Kim's phone. Kim handed it over, although, I am not sure why. Then the lady proceeded to wave her phone over the magnetic scanner thing used to deactivate the anti-theft devices on merchandise in the store. Her phone obviously did not make the little beeping sound normally associated with this thing, to which the lady responded, "Well, it doesn't look like the phone could be causing the alarm to go off." Wow. You really think the phone is going to somehow have a sensor in it that could be disabled by your store's specific scanner?
I am not sure how Kim kept herself from laughing in the girl's face. Well... probably because she has been walking around setting off alarms, can't figure out why, yet continues to use the bag she thinks is causing it.

**Note: Kim found the root of the problem. She was given a wallet for Christmas by her boss, apparently it still had the little sensor in it. It has been removed. Don't worry.

I Hate Stupid People

Apparently Sparky and I don't do a whole lot in our normal lives because I have absolutely nothing interesting to post about my own life.

But interesting things happen to people at my school...so I will share.

We had two snow days last week. I don't know why, it wasn't really that bad outside. Whenever school is closed for a snow day the school corporation puts a little flag on the school homepage to let everyone know. They also send out an email and alert the media. I even get a text message on my phone letting me know that I can sleep in. Our school custodian still goes to the building and he puts huge signs on the doors letting the world know the school is closed. Just to top that, he even puts saw horses in the drop off lane that are painted a vibrant color and say School Closed- Snow Day or something equally obvious.

Apparently, some people are just really stupid. There was a family that dropped off their second grade child at school on Thursday. This means they do not have text messaging, listen to the news on TV, listen to the radio, or check the computer before coming to school.
I guess the empty snow-covered parking lot and lack of human activity around the school didn't set off any alarm bells in their heads either. Seriously.
They just pulled in, dropped off the kid, and left.
Luckily, because our custodian was there, the door was unlocked so the kid could get inside. He was scared because the lights were all off and there were no people around, so he hid in one of the kindergarten classrooms (not mine).
That is where our custodian found him, two hours later. Hiding like balloon boy.
Our custodian called the child's parents to come pick him up. Guess what. The kid's parents were mad... at the CUSTODIAN!! Can you believe it!
I guess they were upset that he wasn't actively looking for hiding children on a day that there aren't supposed to be any around. Ugh!

Just to make the story even better... I was talking to one of his teachers at lunch today and she informed me that when she was talking to this kid yesterday, he told her that his parents are cousins. Yup, that's right folks. I guess if you marry your cousin, dropping your kid off at school on a snow day is excusable. After all, they are only working with half a deck.

P.S. My school made FOUR STAR status today!!! YAY US! We pretty much rock. :o)

We're Baaaaack!

Sparky and I left FL on Friday evening because it was rainy and gross anyway. I wanted to try driving straight through for the first time in my life (it is a 17 hour drive). I let Sparky sleep in until noon and then we headed out around 7:00pm. Sparky drove until 4:30am and then I decided we were too tired and needed to stop.
We stayed overnight in Murfreesboro, TN at a Quality Inn. Let me tell you, the quality was MUCH better than the motel 8!
Saturday I got up nice and early and putzed around while I waited for Sparky to crawl out of bed. I finally got him into the car around noon. I drove the rest of the way home. We arrived at about 4:30pm.

Then I went to go pick up my little doggie Gaby. He was staying the last week of our honeymoon at my parent's house. When I got there my mom announced my arrival to the dog and he just kept roaming around. Then I said his name. He froze in his tracks. He is blind so he couldn't see me, but when he heard my voice he was so shocked and happy. I went over to him and held out my hand for him to sniff. He instantly licked it a bazillion times and wagged his tail so much it shook his hiney. He jumped into my arms and kissed me lots. My parents couldn't believe it. Not only did Gaby not even look in their direction when they got him, but he had refused to kiss any of them the entire time I was gone! He loves me. ;o)

Today (Monday) was the first day back for teachers. It was exhausting to get up so early and sit still for so long and then be so productive! I think the kids are going to give me a run for my money tomorrow!
